At least five people have been injured in a shootout at Nairobi Westgate, one of the busiest malls in Nairobi.

Heavily armed thugs are said to have taken over the shopping mall and ordered all the occupants to lie on the floor. Several gunshots were later heard and it is not yet clear how many people were shot or injured.

The Kenya Red Cross has sent our a Blood Appeal for the Westgate shoot out victims and Kenyans has been urged to donate at MP Shah & Avenue hospital. The evacuation process is currently  underway and the Kenya Police has urged the media to be sensitive to the security operation and keep off. A few hostages have been rescued and the police has also requested people to stay away from the are.

According to a Standard Newspaper reporter, a Dutch embassy employee Rob Vandijk told AP that he had been eating at a restaurant in the centre when gunmen threw hand grenades inside the building.

The Inspector General He is set to issue a statement on the happenings at Westgate Mall.

Meanwhile, our prayers continue to be with all the people trapped in the building. Hopefully police will be able to do a surgical operation, save the hosts and arrest a few of the robbers
