The ICC’s Trial Chamber V(b) has reconsidered its previous decision to excuse Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta from continuous presence at trial. The court ruled that Mr Kenyatta must be present at trial, any future requests to be excused from attending parts of the trial will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

It has however said that he will be only excused in exceptional circumstances to skip some of his trials. This now means Uhuru Kenyatta will have to be present throughput his trial where he together with Deputy President William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Sang are facing crimes against humanity charges.
